Reinstalling Windows 2000 Professional

A

Aileen

I received a message that Windows some files "had been
replaced by unrecognised versions", and to repair the
program. Installed original disk, selected repair. It
went through the process, but now will not let me access
any of the Microsoft programs already on the computer - it
tells me they have to be reinstalled, that the Windows
Installer has problems, that Access had problems with the
OLE server, etc. Mostly, when I try to open any program, I
get the Windows File protection window popping up - but I
have already re-installed the program twice - I can't see
that doing it again will help at all.

This may be a mute suggestion but when you reinstall the
OS the files are reverted back to pre-Service Pack
files. Have you tried reinstalling the Service packs?
Unfortunately, you may have gotten the "bit me in the
butt" from MS & the OS. If you can get the PC up long
enough, try to get all your data off, just in case.....
