Recently I had a problem on a Windows 2000 server with the Symantec Backup
Exec Software and after talking with Symantec they feel that I may have a
problem with the server. Their suggestion was to reinstall service pack 4 on
this server. My question is if I reinstall service pack 4 will any of the
folders lose their privileges? This server is used as a file server and there
are many folders with privileges added to them. Previously I had been
backing up this server with an internal backup device but I am not able to
run backups and Symantec says they cannot help me until I reinstall service
pack 4. Any help would be appreciated.

Applying (or reapplying) a service pack should not affect securities, I've
applied and reapplied service packs many times and have never had any
negative issues.
