Reinstallation of IE

S

sameer

Hi,
I had installed Google toolbar in IE. For certain
websites, when a pop up window comes up, I used to get
some error and options to "debug" or "cancel". I used to
cancel it everytime.

I decided to reinstall IE. I downloaded IE set up file
from MS website. Then I removed (unchecked box) in
Control Panel> Add/remove programs> Windows component.
Internet explorer symbols vanished from Quick launch,
desktop, start up menu.

When I try to run IE set up file now, it says "Latest IE
version already installed" and set up is aborted.

So now I am not able to install IE or get all the IE
symbols (quick launch, desktop, start up menu) back. In
order to open browser, I have to click on "windows
update" from start up menu.

How can I solve this problem?
I have XP home edition.

Thanks

Do you mean that you were able to re-install IE after all? If so, good. Now,
for your shortcuts; do you mean on the Desktop, QL (Quick Launch toolbar),
and start>programs menu?

For the Desktop icon access IE Options>Advanced tab>Browsing>Show internet
explorer on desktop>Apply>OK out. For the others you can get them in a
multitude of ways. One way is to R-Click on the desktop shortcut>create
shortcut and drag it to the location you want. Best principle to get used to
is to R-Click>and "Move here" or "create shortcut here".
