IE installed, executable can't be found

A strange problem: internet explorer vanished from my start and quicklaunch
menus, and I did not uninstall the program. I searched for the .exe file and
it could not be found. However, when other programs sought to launch IE, it
launched, so it must be installed.
In an effort to get the program launch icons to show up again, I upgraded to
IE7 beta, but it's the same story: the program launches when another one
tells it to, but I can't locate the executable file, and no shortcuts for IE
appears in my start menu.

Can anyone recommend what can be done?

Hi,
Try this...
Go to Control Panel> Add or remove programs> Add/remove Windows components>
put a check by IE. OK your way out. Restart.

You may also have to go into Add or remove programs> "Set program access &
defaults" and make IE the default browser.

You may also have to go into Display properties> Desktop> Customize, to
check
IE under Desktop icons.

Hope this helps,

Don,
The first step below did it. Apparently I had marked it to be removed, and
"unremoved" it.
Thanks,
Ed

I have no answer for you, but I am having a similar problem with the Internet
Explorer "Favorites" directory. I cannot find it in my Windows Explorer
window (and I have instructed it to show hidden files). But when I click on
the Favorites icon at the top of the Internet Exploere page it shows me all
of my favorite links exactly as I entered them and they work. But I can't
find the file, which I want to do to back it up.

Hi Don:
Windows XP -
But I solved the problem. Apparently I had unknowlingly transferred my
Favorites file to a removable drive. IE was accessing my favorites from this
removable drive. That's why I could not find it on "C" drive, yet IE was
still able to access my favorites (off of the removable drive)
Thanks
Nestor
