IE not launching. Please Help!

I recently installed microsoft anti spyware. i dont know if its beacause of
it or not but my ie does not open when i click on its icon on my desktop or
in start>programs>ie or my quick launch. its not opening either when i go to
program files>ie> and try running it.

but strangely, ie gets launched by other programs like google desktop search.

after this happened, my msn mesenger too is not loading though its showing
up on the tray near the clock. it exits giving an error message once i clik
on its icon in task bar.

i have tried reinstalling ie, msn messenger, un installed msas and tried
repairing my winsock settings. nothing seems to work.

when i try clicking on windows update, an ie windows opens and closes as
soons as the windows update page loads. this happens with certain other sites
too.

i have thoroughly checked my pc for spyware adware with spybot, ad adware etc.

i have updated norton installed too.

please help me restore my ie functionality.

Hi,

Check your home page in IE, Tools, Internet Options. You might place
about:blank in that space.

Kind regards

Hans
