Reinstall XP Home

I need to reinstall XP Home edition.
I tried using the repair console but it couldn't
fix the current installation. I booted from the cd
and tried to install to the existing boot partition and
it said there isn't room. Can I format the existing boot
partition without deleting it or can I delete the existing
boot partition and create a new boot partition without
distroying the extended partition and losing all of my
c drive stored info.?
