Registry entry. net bios group, required to access external USB HD

Installation external HDD for USB recognized drive number, not recognize drive.
Events listed arrival, error, removal. Info indicated no net bios group.
Help indicates not tab entry, but entry to registry required.

Location of that entry and complete details not, of course, listed in help.
Having trouble getting infor out of ComUSA or manufacturer listed.

Drive set as master, part number correctly read by this computer???
