I have a laptop that I purchased about 8 months ago. (it came installed with
word for home and students) When trying to access Word, I am requested to
give the "Product Code". I found the code on the bottom of my laptop, and I
have entered it SEVERAL times and it continues to give me an error message
that it is not correct. I can no longer use the word on my computer.
Does anyone have a resolution to this issue?

Thanks.....

John

Try re-registering Word..................

Start>Run winword /r

Note the <space> before the /r

The sticker on the bottom of your laptop has the installation key for Windows.
It will not work with Office Home and Student.

You might want to check with the computer manufacturer or the seller of your
laptop but my best guess is that you had a trial version of Office installed on
your laptop. The trial version will run a limited number of times after which
you are required to purchase the full version and enter the CD key to validate
your Office installation.

If you have any questions regarding this response post back and include the make
and model of your laptop.

Good luck

Hi,
I have a Y510 running Windows Vista Home Premium. It came installed with a
trial version of MS Office Suite.

Rather than wait for the trial vers to end, today I purchased the Home &
Student version online. Got my Product Key, went to the activation window,
typed in the key and was told it was incorrect. I tried a couple of times, to
make sure I had the numbers right. But same answer: incorrect key.

I'm wondering if the Student version will not "take" in the full version
activation area. If so, how do I load my newly purchased version? There was
no download with my purchase, just the product key.

Thanks for any help!

That means that whatr you have is an Evaluation license for Word.

No, no, no. That's the Product Key for Windows (as it states right on
the label). It won't work for any other product, such as Word.

I can no longer use the word on my computer.

Because your evaluation period expired, you'll need to purchase a valid
license for Word and use that Product Key to activate it. (I'm sure
this was all made quite clear in the error message you're seeing, as
well as in the documentation that originally accompanied the computer.)

The product key you purchased for Office Home and Student 2007 will not work
when trying to activate the full version of Office that came with your Lenovo
laptop.

As for installing Office Home and Student, you might want to go back to the web
site where you purchased it and look around for a link that allows you to
download the program. I know you can download a trial version from this
Microsoft web site.

Microsoft Home and Student 2007

I'm not sure, but you may find that you can use the product key you purchased to
validate the trial version. Keep in mind that you will want to uninstall the
full version of Office that came with your computer before installing any
version of Office Home and Student.

If this information doesn't help solve you problem, you might want to post your
question to the relevant Office newsgroup.

Resolution for your issue is to go and purchase a licensed version of you Office product. Your Trial has expired

It's probably a trial, but you can't know that for sure. Especially
since the code he found on the bottom of his computer was for the OS,
not for Office or Word.

He should either look at his media and see whether it's a trial version
or not, and if the COA is there, use that one. If it was purchased
through legit channels then the information exists; otherwise all bets
are off.

Why ask here? Do you see WORD of OFFICE in this group's title? No.
