Regedt32

I have run into a peculiar situation. I am trying to open regedt32 and
instead regedit opens. I have verified that regedt32 exists in the \system32
folder and regedit exists in the winnt directory. How can I correct this and
access regedt32?

In Windows XP, unlike Windows 2000, regedt32.exe and
regedit.exe launch the same registry editor. The regedt32 you
see in Windows 2000 doesn't exist in Windows XP.

Take a look at this article:

Differences between Regedit.exe and Regedt32.exe
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;141377

Scroll down to the Windows XP section and note this statement:

"In Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, Regedt32.exe is a small
program that just runs Regedit.exe".

Well that explains it. That makes regedt32 completely useless. It was a
nice tool.

Thanks.

All of the features of REGEDT32 are incorporated into REGEDIT in Windows XP, if I recall correctly.
