how do i open regedit ?
i had the problem with all desktop backgrounds freezing on me and read the
messages on how to resolve this but i dont know how to start

Start>Run>type regedit in the dialog box and click on Run. Before you
start changing anything in the Registry, it would be a very good idea to
make a backup....just in case.

Note you can save the registry key first by:
On the File menu, click Export.
In the File name box, type SaveKey, and then click Save.
Or create a system restore point prior to editing.
