Redirecting to Internet Optimizer

Sarah

I recently found that I've been hit by a bug that AdAware,
SpyBot and my anti-virus software can't eradicate. If I
try to go to Google, I get redirected to Internet
Optimizer. I've searched all over for answers to this
problem and have deleted every key in my registry which
seems to relate to the problem, as well as followed many
other steps recommended on various sites.

At one point I thought I'd solved it, but now I just get a
page apparently hosted by cPanel saying that "There is no
website configured at this address".

I've almost lost all hope of getting rid of this. Can
anyone shed any light on the problem?

Cheers,

~Sarah

Removal and how to prevent it happening again:

Get and update then run frequently after checking for new updates:

The cPanel redirect is a result of the Qhosts trojan and there are many amny
answers about this here already.

I had the same problem. I was using an older version of Ad-
aware and it didnt pick it up until i downloaded the
version 6 as well as the latest updates and it cleaned it
all out. I also checked all activex components for any
leftovers just to be safe. Everythings fine now
