recovery lost files (plz help)

When I boot-up the computer yesterday, the Windows XP does some scandisks
and it says some folders are "removed". After that, I found some of the
files are lost. When I check from file explorer, it seems that the files are
still occupying the spaces in the harddisk (it says 15G of the harddisk are
occupied but I could only find 10G of files inside the harddisk).

As the files are quite important to me, I would like to recover the files as
many as possible. What should I do?
