Recovery console

After installing SP2 on my PC, I attempted to install
Windows recovery console on the Mach.
After entering the setup command in the run command
(D:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons) I received an error
stating that "unable to install source is OLDER then the
version currently installed on PC"(or words to that
effect).
A
Any suggestions??

.
you need to delete it first while in C:\ prompt type
delete C:\i386\winnt32.exe/cmdcons then expand it
expand D:\i386\winnt32.exe/cmdcons
notice the space between delete-expand and C:\ D:\
then after it shows 1 file expanded type exit, then it'll
run ckdisc,then boot to windows.

just a thought if after you delete that you need to
expand it it should look like this
expand D:\i386\winnt32.exe/cmdcons C:\i386
\winnt32.exe/cmdcons
space between expand and D,cmdcons and C
type this after you delete it first from C:\ then expand
that way it will expand to the C drive from D disc the
other way I gave you will expand to nothing (sorry)it
needs to expand to C drive(I assume thats you boot drive).

It sounds like you are trying to install the Recovery Console
using pre-SP2 installation media. This will not work. You have
to use the winnt32 /cmdcons command from the I386 folder on/from
the Windows XP SP2 installation source. A source such as the
files extracted from your network download of Microsoft Windows
XP SP2. A Microsoft Windows XP SP2 CD-ROM, etc.

For more information on the extract command for XPsp2.exe and
Update.exe see the following Microsoft Documentation:
