Recovery Console Option

Dear Sir/s,

I've just installed the Recovery Console for my XP, my first prob is that i
can't format the hard-disk as when accessing the Recovery Console is telling
me "iastor.sys" file missing. As far as i know it is used for raiding the
hard-disks, correct me if i'm wrong, and this message is mostly shown on Dell
computers while mine is Fujistu-Siemens. Secondly till when i'll find the way
to format the Hard-disk, how can i skip the Recovery Console option menu when
booting "1. to start windows normally" & "2. Start recovery console".

Whilst thanking you for your collaboration i'll keep looking forward to
receive your earliest reply as this computer is driving me crazy .

I am a little confused. Are you trying to format the system drive
before re-installing Windows? If so then you do not need the
Recovery Console. You simply boot the machine with your WinXP
CD, then allow the disk to be formatted when prompted.

If my guess is incorrect then I suggest you start by describing
WHAT you're trying to do instead of HOW you're trying to do it.

Your description is very poor.
You installed Recovery Console on C: drive and you are trying to format C:
drive? Run Recovery Console from WIN XP CD (not from HDD).

Are talking about dual boot menu???
Where yuo can either start windows or recovery console?
You don't want to see the dual boot menu?

First of all thanks for replying! What im trying to do is to format the
hard-disk to install the WinXP again! I'll try to boot from the XP cd!

From when i'd installed the Recovery Console everytime i'm starting my
computer after the POST check and before loading the windows screen it's
giving me the option either to Start Windows normally, or to Run the Recovery
Console, if i don't choose any of these options obiously it gives me around
30sec and then it automatically chooses the highlighted option.

My Problem is how to start the Windows normally as it was before installing
it! Maybe i have to edit a .bat or .sys file??? Or there is an option in the
Windows itself?

Yes you can remove option to Dual boot. Take away option okay. Files copied
will still consume HD space, Not sure how to Uninstall. Just delete folder I
guess.

So why did you install it to begin with??

If that's what you want!!
My Computer> (rt click) Porperties> Advanced> Startup Recovery>Settings> Edit
Delete line referencing "Recovery Console".
NOTE: Make sure you delete correct line nad "recovery console " is not
listed as Default. Maybe backup file before editing.
NOTE: This ONLY removes dual boot option . DOES NOT remove files on HDD.

Sorry but it didn't work, when i'm booting from the XP cd nothing is
happening, the windows is starting normally!

You must modify your BIOS settings so that it uses the
CD drive as the first boot device. On many PCs you have
to press the Delete key at boot time in order to get into the
BIOS setup screen. If this does not work on your PC,
read the manual that came with it.

I am by no means an expert but would like to share with you a similar problem
I encountered with this driver. I was trying to run repair from my windows
OS CD. I was doing so with the help of a Dell tech support person. I also
received this error message. I initially bypassed it and was not able to
reboot, even in safe mode afterwards. I again ran repar tool and this time
browsed the OS CD and found the file. When I selected it Windows gave me the
"not digitally signed" warning, so I decided not to open the file. What I
was instructed to do next was to go into the BIOS and change my hard drive
setting from SATA AHCI to SATA ATA. Once I did this and ran the repair tool
again it no longer asked for this file. I realize your problem is different
because you were trying to recover rather than repair. Tech support did
however ephmasize to me that this bios setting should only be changed if you
do not have RAID on. Please don't do this per my suggestion but maybe this
will be useful to you helping to isolate your problem.
