Win XP Home SP2
Stand alone PC
OEM CD original Win XP version
Single HD partition C(NTFS),D,E
UK English
I have loaded the Windows Recovery Console using the download from Microsoft.
The Console runs until an error message that it cannot load the keyboard
layout file KBDUS.DLL. It does not get to C:\ prompt. I then have to shut
down and restart PC. I am trying to enable restore from files stored on HD
and not a CD Rom. PC is actually running fine at present.
KBDUS.DLL is confirmed as present in C:|Windows|I386
and in
C:\CMDCONS
MS Knowledgebase explains Win 2000 issues of running out of alphabet for
naming CD (but not using) and for setting full Administrator rights (do not
get that far).
Problem may be the latter, but I do not have a security option snap-in in
Microsoft Management Console to alter anything.
Any suggestions?
