Recovery Console Administrative password

Each time I run recovery console it asks for an
administrative password. I have disabled it, changed it,
no matter what it says invalid. this is a problem with XP,
i guess i need a hotfix (Q308402). Unless anyone out there
knows what else I could do.I would love the help.
