I am running windows xp pro sp2 inorder to run chkdsk /p at recovery console. I could not access the recovery console as it says 'invalid password' even if I enter the correct system administrators password. Can anyone help me with some ideas on skipping this process and getting into the system recovery console. Your advice is highly appreciate.

try by just leaving the password blank. In otherwords don't enter anything, just hit return as soon as you are promted for the password.
