Recovery Boot CD

Hi everyone,

I don't know if this is the right forum but i wasn't sure which other group
i could post this to.

Does anyone know of a program that you can use to boot from cd into a file
manager or something like that so if windows wouldn't boot i could still
gain access to my files and copy them over my network to another pc?

Thanks in advance
Dan

Dan one of Dave's suggestions is "Knoppix' - majority of data recovery
utilities are versions of Linux. You can download from Knoppix linux which
is bootable from the CD - installation of the HD not required.

Linux can access FAT and NTFS files.

I didn't think about it when i asked the question but i've got raid setup,
does knoppix support this?

Knoppix or something similar sounds like the ideal solution, i tried ubuntu
live but that didn't support raid out of the box
