i accidently deleted a videos folder and when i went to delete it in the
reycle bin their was 4 different video folders and i tried to restore the one
with the videos but it didn't do it. well i thought it did cause i closed it
out and went back in to make sure and no problem so i went ahead and deleted
the files.
big mistake!
when i used the search i managed to recover only 6 videos out of say like
over 50 videos.
my question is when you permanently delete a file from the recycle bin and
it goes wherever it goes and you try and use search to recover it and that
doesn't work what do you do????
i need the videos folder back and i am having extreme difficulty getting it
back although it does say in the dummy book that it will be hard to recover
it when it is deleted and they were right!
so what do i do am i screwed?
am i s.o.l.?
need help please!
thanks

DO NOTHING FURTHER ON THE DRIVE.

If you have Vista Business or Ultimate, you can use the "Restore
previous versions" feature. Look in Vista's Help for directions. If you
don't have either of these versions, data recovery software may find the
files. If the data is crucial and cost is not an issue, you may wish to
send the hard drive directly to a professional data recovery company
like Drive Savers (my preference) or Seagate Data Recovery. General
prices run from $500USD on up. Drive Savers recovered all the data on a
failed laptop drive for one of my clients and it cost $2,700. He thought
it was worth the money; only you know what your data is worth. I
understand that some insurance companies are now covering data recovery
charges so check with yours.

Seagate Data Recovery Services - https://www.seagatedatarecovery.com/

If you don't want to send the hard drive out for professional recovery,
then it may be recoverable locally.

DO NOTHING FURTHER ON THE DRIVE.

The data is still on the hard drive but if you overwrite it, it will be
extremely difficult or impossible to recover it. If you use data
recovery software, install it on another machine and either use it from
that operating system or create a bootable cd/floppy and work with that.
If you don't have the skill and/or equipment to do these procedures and
the data is crucial, take the machine to a professional computer repair
shop that has experience in doing data recovery. This will not be your
local version of BigStoreUSA. In-shop data recovery is usually not
exactly cheap (for ex., my charges are generally $150-350USD), but it
normally costs less than sending the drive to a professional data
recovery company like Drive Savers. You need to make the determination
of the value of your data and decide what to do.
