I need to recover XP on my computer. I have a cd that came with the computer
and in the past I have been able to boot from that cd and restore all my
factory settings ( wipe out all the files and everything). I tried to do it
this time but when I select boot from cd, I just boots up like normal. I log
on and nothing happens. What do I need to do the get it to run.

Go back into your BIOS and make sure the boot order hasn't changed.

Be sure the CD drive is the one to boot before the hard drive.

When I restart my computer it tells me to press any key to boot from CD. But
it still just boots up normally. I made sure that the boot order hasn't
changed.

Lindsay,

Just to make sure one of your files isn't corrupt,

Type SFC /SCANNOW on the Start-Run line.

Have your XP CD handy to insert for references.
