Couldn't recognise, Restore disc of the OEM (Acer Aspire E 500)

It was all after initiating to boot there was a disturbance in power and the
desktop couldn't boot, the error being " Hal.dll file missing". I have
valuable data in logical patition drive D:\ the system is able to boot from a
bootable CD but the HDD drive space is indicated as 0 bytes and the restore
disc from the OEM doesn't recover, using the system disk indicates recovered
but nothing improved. I tried Seagate HDD DOS diagnostics program and found
my disk is intact with 80 GB memory. I don't want to loose the data in
logical partition, could you help me to get the desktop back to shape.

No backups then?
See the post immediately following yours for one solution, other wise remove
the hd and slave it to another PC to recover data
