XP Home.

In a magic stroke of genius, I have somehow deleted hundreds of thousands of
images, both taken by me and collected from the web. Not only did I delete
them from one computer, but also from the computer they were backed up on,
running XP Pro.

Don't ask me how, because I don't really know. I was screwing with the
folders, moving them between machines in preparation to blow one away and
reformat it for one of my employees. (it was my personal machine).

Anyway, is there any software out there that will allow me to "undelete"
these files? They are not in the recycle bin, because I emptied that before
I realized I had a problem. I've been doing this in the evenings, over the
last week, when I'm tired..... Big mistake.

Any hints appreciated.

Hopefully you are not using the computer with the deleted files on it right
now :) as it does overwrite the files that were deleted.

Read here for info on recovery and also to download Restoration file
recovery software:

Thank you for the help. I am not using one of the two computers, and the
Restoration program suggeted by yourself and "bud" is now on the machine and
has found all the files.

The issue I have now is that there's 212,000 files and this program only
lets you restore one at a time (as far as I can find). Obviously, I don't
need, or particularly want, all of the files, but I'd bet theres 15,000 or
so that I would like to recover.....

While I'm working away diligently with this software, I'm still open to
suggestions. Not adverse to paying for a program that'll work.

Thanks all.

Brett,

This link was included with one of the restoration links. I downloaded this
freeware and tryed it and it seems to work okay. You can select multiple
files (finding them is trickier than with restoration, but) by holding the
control key down, then saving them to a directory.

Good luck.
