When I bring up the volume control from the System Tray
and click on the volume control slide bar, there is no
longer a sound (Default Beep). I have had problems in the
past with the Default Beep missing. To correct the
problem I went to Control Panel/Sounds and Audio
Devices/Sound Tab/Program Events/Windows and then changed
the sound assigned to the Default Beep from Ding.wav to
something else. After testing that the new sound assigned
to Default Beep worked, I changed it back to Ding.wav and
tested it again. It started working properly again.
However, this time when I went to Control Panel/Sounds and
Audio Devices/Sound Tab/Program Events/Windows to do this,
Default Beep was no longer in the list with the other
sounds listed (e.g.: Critical Stop, Exit Windows, Windows
Logoff, etc.). How do I replace "Default Beep" in this
list and get it working again?

Hi Mario,

Fix the Ding.wav File (Line 6)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
