missing default sound option

Kevin

Under Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/Sounds, if I select Windows Default for a sound scheme, the Default Beep selection is missing. I like to set the volume by clicking on the volume lever in the icon tray to hear the default beep, but when I do this now, I hear only the faint computer speaker sound. How do I get the Default Beep option back?

thanks, Kevin

Look for Windows XP Ding.wav.

Hi Kevin,

Fix the Ding.wav File (Line 6)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
