Record ISP usage

Is there a recommended tool that records ISP usage?
I want to view when the usage is happening. ie see how much I upload and
download each day or period.

Ralph, I use NicMeter which works if you are using broadband through a
network interface card. It's freeware, has various display modes and
logging by day/week/month. Unfortunately the author seems to have
abandoned it. The web page is www.nicmeter.com but the download link is
