I have xp. I have never used the fax on this before. I had it on an old
computer I had but I had dial up. Now I have a cable modem. Can I send and
recieve faxes with a cable modem?? Seems to me that you can't since there is
no phone number for someone to call when they want to fax you something since
there is no phone connected to the computer...please someone help me.

Hasn't this been done to death already?! A cable modem is *NOT* a modem -
it's a connection to a Wide Area Network. You cannot use it to send faxes
because it has no method of decoding the pulses. You need an analogue fax
modem connected to a phone line.

And you could have found the answer to this yourself had you bothered to use
Google Groups for the purpose it was created!

The only way you can do Faxing with a Cable Modem is to hire an Internet
Faxing service:
