Recent update(2-15-08) causes my computer to crash--permanently!!!

I got the usual pop up saying my computer has installed the update and needs
to restart. So i clicked yes, restart my computer. The computer shut down
fine and that's where it all went wrong. The computer never started up. It
doesn't respond when i hit the power button or when i unplug it for a while
and try again. I know that on my motherboard there is an L.E.D. that shows if
it is getting power and it is not lit. I have know idea what to do and
valuable time is ticking away. Has anyone else had this problem? Any
suggestions?

Tip: Temporarily disable real-time protection by your anti-virus and/or
anti-spyware applications (e.g., CounterSpy, Spysweeper, Spybot Tea Timer,
AVG Anti-Spyware) and/or any third-party firewall (e.g., ZA) before
attempting to install the update(s). If you disable the third-party

The fact that you had just applied an update may have nothing to do with
what went wrong. It may be that anything else you did that required a
restart would have had the same result. After checking your power
connections and source try reseating cards and connectors, especially if you
moved the machine recently. It may be that the recycle was the occasion for
something to fail in the power supply. Post back after checking the
hardware stuff.

First, I apologize for the email reply as opposed to Reply Group. I'm new
to this game.

1. Verify that wall outlet is working.
Plug in a wall lamp or anything that you know works into the outlet and
verify that you have power there.

2. Verify that the power cord is firmly seated.

3. Verify that the power cord is good.
Use a known, good cord and see if power led is on.

4. Does the power supply fan work?

5. Replace computer's power supply.
