Before, I can still see the documents I accessed previously. Now, at every start up, I no longer see the documents I accessed yesterday. I already check the registry for the existence of the registry keys responsible to disabling this feature, there's no explicit setting for them. So, I'm guessing this might have been caused by another 3rd party app that I tried. However, I can no longer recall which one since I try (and evaluate) a lot of software

Is there a way I can restore the Recent Documents tracking w/o reinstalling Windows?

What ever registry-tweaking/"garbage-cleaning" optioned software that is
actually installed would be the reaponsible party; anything from TweakUI on
up. Sorry that I don't have the regkey that gets set for this to happen... I
no longer have reg tracking/comparing software installed. However, in some
cases installing an app that has that option, turning it on, then turning it
back off will reset whatever it is that needs it.

See if you have this policy Enabled, if not, then Disable it....
start > Run > gpedit.msc > Local Computer Policy > User Configuration >
Administrative Templates > Start Menu & Tasbar > "Clear history of recently
opened documents on exit"
