I am unable to receive email. I can send messages, but when downloading, I
am now being prompted for my password. I enter the correct password, click
enter, but am prompted over and over again for my password. When I
eventually cancel out, I get a window message that the server response is
'ERR directory status: BAD PASSWORD', and it lists my account info, and POP3
Server: mail.comcast.net'. I've tried changing my password but the same
result. I called Comcast and they redirected me to Microsoft. The newsgroup
is one of the options I was offered so I am trying this first I am operating
Windows ME with Outlook 2000. HELP!

I would remove the POP3 account from Outlook and then restart the system.
Now start Outlook and recreate the POP3 account. Have you already tried
this?

PS - also keep in mind that if you have any security software (antivirus,
antispam, .etc) that can scan e-mail as it is downloaded can throw a twist
into your configuration. These programs act as a middle man between Outlook
and the ISP mail server. You might have to uninstall/reinstall these
programs to get things working again.
