Receive check box unchecked after modem removed and reinstalled.

I am looking for a way to force the Microsoft Fax service
in Windows 2000 to enable the receive on a detected modem
by default. I have a machine with an external modem may
get unplugged accidentally. I have noticed that when the
modem is plugged back in, the machine rebooted and the
modem detected by the Fax Service; the receive check box
is unchecked by default and will cause problems. Can
anyone point me to the right place?

The default setting for any modem is "send" will be enabled and "Receive"
will be disabled. When the modem is un-plugged and plugged in again, it
treats as if it is a new modem and "receive" will be disabled.
You can enable "Receive" for that modem using
Start|Programs|Accessories|Communcations|Fax|Fax service Management
