rebuilding the registry

how do I do a registry rebuild... I think my registry
needs a good cleaning
 
Format the hard drive and reinstall Windows. That's the only way I can
think of.
 
You could try something like Norton SystemWorks which will check registry for a lot
of unused junk. Otherwise you may want to do an upgrade install if you are having
operating system issues. If that does not help a reinstall in to the existing
\windows folder would work. You would avoid a reformat doing such, but would have to
reinstall applications on top of themselves, reapply service pack and critical
updates. ---Steve
