Reassigning drive letters

Jerry

I installed an external USB hard disk drive and it came
up as drive E:. I installed prgrams and everything worked
fine. Then Windows XP reassigned the drive to drive K:.
Drive letter E: is open but I can't get my computer to
recognize the drive as anything but K:. How do I reassign
drive letters?

Right click on My Computer and select Manage.

On the following screen, click on Disk Management.

The drives should all show up on the right hand side of the screen and you
can assign or re-assign drive letters from here.

Goto Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management
Then goto the Disk Management section
Then select the drive in question, right click it and select Change Drive
Letter and Paths
Make the appropriate adjustments in there.
