Drive letters reassigned

Windows seems to have arbitrarily reassigned the drive
letters for my two CD-ROM drives. They were E and F, now
they're G and H. I was able to use Disk Management to
reassign one back to its original letter, but it won't
let me do the other one. Moreover, if I try to access
the one I reassigned (back to E) I get an error message
that says put a disk in the drive--even though there's
one there! Does anyone have any suggestions? I have a
locally-built clone with 256 MB, 2 hard drives, 2 CD-
ROMs, plus an add-in card powering another hard drive and
an Imation Superdisk.

thanks for any help anyone can provide.
