Realy annoying echo when i play music

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can help me. My sound has
been fine for ages, playing mp3s and stuff has been ok.
But just recently any sound i play has a really annoying
echo and the vocals are very quiet. It happens even when
I play something through the line in, so it must be
something to do with my soundcard. Trouble shoot is
rubbish and didn't help me at all. Has anyone had the

sorry but that didn't work, i have tried absolutely
everything and nothing has worked!!! help its bloody
annoying!!!

Reset your microphone to "Mute", in most cases solves the
problem of echo like sounds.
Rightclick the sound icon, bottom righthand corner of
monitor, and click "Open Volume Control", click
the "Mute" button under Microphone.
