Volume is messed up

I don't know how it happened, but the volume on my
computer is acting weird. When I'm playing music, it
plays, but there sounds like there's a echo and the
vocals are very soft. I can hear the background vocals
much clearer than the lead vocals. I've looked in the
volume control panel but nothing seems to be fixing it.
Help?

I have two questions for you which may help in getting a proper, helpfu
response to your post
1. Did your music/songs play properly before or did this just start
2. What format is your music, i.e. CDA, MP3, WMA, WAV, etc.?

Hi Byte;
It sounds like you know quite a bit about the media
player. I am having the EXACT SAME problem that Danielle
is having! Back in the old days when you hooked up your
stereo speakers "out of phase" you got this problem. Very
little bass response and any audio that had equal volume
in both the left and right channels got cancelled out.
I've been playing streaming audio for weeks and cannot
figure out how to correct this problem. If an audio
stream is in mono I hardly hear anything. In stereo
streams if the lead vocals are equal in both left and
right channels the volume is severely reduced and all I
hear is the ambience of the room (sounds like echos). I'm
running Win98SE with a sound card built into this Dell
computer. Do you have any ideas?
Thanks!
Jeff
