Read/write permissions

My PC has been acting up and now all of a sudden, my flash drive is in a read
only mode. I cannot save any files to the device.

It would be nice to understand how it happened, but it is much more
important to me to gett back the ability to write to the device.

What is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is
clean, what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

I think it is hardware problem - some flash drives are notorious for this
kind of malfunction whioch cannot be fixed. This is especially the case if
the drive has a read/write switch. I had my Transcend flash drive changed 3
times before giving up and switching to another manufacturer.
