Re-Installing W2K after memory configuration change

T

Technical Tech

System: Antec case, WD800 HD, AMD2200+, ECS K7S5A Rev 3.0
Nvidia GeForce2 Tn card, After originally installing the
OS, and it worked perfectly, I removed the 256DDR memory
and replaced it with two, PC133 SDRAM modules, then when I
rebooted the system hung up at the end of the "staring
windows" cycle. I then rebooted and got an error message
that then put the system in a reboot loop. I rebooted
with the WD Datalife Floppy and shedked the disk, no
ererors. I then erased the 1st and last 1G of the hard
drive after consulting with the WD help desk. Attempted
to reload W2K and immediately received file not correctly
copied, on a multitude of files. I then executed a full
disk erase with O's and still have the same problem. Does
this OS have a disabling feature and is there a recovery
method?? any Ideas?

Have you tried with other memory modules? Try removing one of the modules,
and if the behavior doesn't change, try with the other one. Also, ensure
that all BIOS memory settings are correct, you probably want to consult the
motherboard manual for this.

If this doesn't help, reinstall the DDR module.

Best regards
