dual boot w2k/98

firstly: what error condition in pbs prints out the message 'invalid
system disk...' ?

C: w2k pro / wd disk
D: w98 se / ibm disk

is bootsect.dos enough to boot to second os(win98) ? i'm trying to diagnose
the reason why dual setup stopped functioning after w2k reinstall (all 98
boot files on c drive were preserved, including bootsect.dos); so i really
need to know: if i overwrite pbs and backup with 0's will that make any
difference at all(in this dual boot case) - what about mbr ?

thanks

Can you boot to W98SE at all?

i can boot to w2k but if i choose 'windows 98' from the bootmenu i get
'invalid system disk...', to make sure it is the bootsect.dos(copy of the 98
boot sector made by w2k setup) that gets loaded i've hex edited the file and
changed the first letter of the error message to 'S', so now i get 'Snvalid
system disk...' but still don't know why...
