my current installed version of windows xp is full of virus and other
problems.. im trying to install windows xp all over again and go to install
so that i can delete everything from my hard drive and basically start over.
but when i get to the part about portions ( i think thats talking about
deleting whats on the hard drive now) i hit D to delete and it says i cant
because some of the install files are on that portion.. and if i hit enter to
use the same portion it says its not good to instal 2 operating systems on
the same portion. so i know thats not what i want to do.. why am i getting
that msg when i go to delete? can some one help me please!!! or tell me a way
to reinstall windows xp and delete everyting on the current hard drive!!!

THATS MY PROBLEM! THIS BELOW IS WHAT I WAS TOLD TO DO TO FIX IT. CAN SOMEONE
PLEASE GIVE ME A LITTLE MORE DETAILS ON HOW TO DO WHATS BELOW??? I ATTEMPTED
TO FORMAT DISK BY RIGHT CLICKING THE C DRIVE BUT IT SAID ALL WINDOWS HAD TO
BE CLOSED THAT USED DRIVE C. I CLOSED EVERYTHING AND IT SAID THE SAME.. ANY

Clean install (format disk) Boot to the XP setup CD,press 'R" for the repair
prompt, and run the command DISKPART to remove the
existing partition, and then boot to CD, and run Setup.
