I am looking for advice on how to reinstall Internet Explorer v.6 (sp1), I'd like to do it from scratch, complete re-install. I run Windows 2000 Prof
Please help.

Internet Explorer is part of Windows. You cannot completely uninstall it.
You can repair or reinstall on top of existing system.

2. Perform a repair of Internet Explorer. From Control Panel select
Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down to Microsoft Internet Explorer and
highlight it. Click on the Add/Remove button. When the IE Tools menu comes
up, select Repair. Click OK.

3. If repairing does not work, uninstall and reinstall IE. At the same IE
Tools menu, select "Restore the previous Windows configuration". Then
reinstall Internet Explore.

You can also access the IE Toolbar by clicking Start > Run and type

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

Hi, Frank

I don't know how to thank you, this MS document fixed my problem. I spent more than a week hunting down this problem. I ran SFC /scannow as was suggested and voila
Thanks a million for taking the time to help me and others.

Mr. Saunders, I'm back, the problem I've been having with IE 6, win 2000, came back. I would like to ask you if I always get same error code (Runtime error 204 at 0000 8AB2), usually as soon as, or shortly after I connect to the Internet (dial-up). How can determine which application displays this error, or what other things I can do to remedy it

Thank you

Felix

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
