RDP Client 6.1 not found in XP SP3

I'm running XP SP3 but I can't save my password in the MSTSC.EXE (Terminal
Services Client). It's supposed to be able to in Terminal Services Client
6.1.

So I go to c:\windows\system32 and look at the properties of mstsc.exe and
find that it is "version 6.0.6001.18000". Furthermore I check many other XP
SP3 installations at our site and they all have this same version. So I
guess we're all on Terminal Services Client 6.0?

How can I get the "Save password" box under the "General" tab of my
MSTSC.EXE client? ie: How can I get onto version 6.1 of mstsc.exe???

Thanks for help,

Tom

To all,

I've figured it out.

It seems that version 6.1 of the Terminal Services Client is built in to
Windows XP SP3, however when you do a 'File ~ Properties' on the EXE it
comes back with "Version 6.0.6001.18000", leading a person to believe it is
actually the Terminal Services Client version 6.0 (which doesn't support
saving of passwords).

However, it really is the version 6.1, and does save both username and
password.

What you have to do is check the box "Prompt for credentials", then when you
connect it comes up with a check box saying "Save password". Alternatively
there is a small sentence on the General tab (when editing the RDP file)
that says "Edit credentials". This jumps to a dialog that prompts for both
the username and password, and saves them.

Hi Tom,

You don't have "Allow me to save credentials"?

The version you have is the one for SP3, dated April 2008.
