rbooting

I would appreciate some help on this one. I'm a technician
in a school; A windows 2000 professional P4 machine
continually reboots before completion of the boot process,
therefore, it continually reboots. Can anyone advise why
this is happening.Thanks in advance.

Did you try booting into "Safe Mode"?

You can do this by pressing F8 just as Windows starts to boot. It will list
the drivers that it is loading on the screen. If it hangs before the
Graphical Interface comes up, let us know what the last file listed was. If
you are able to logon in safe mode, check the eventviewer for any errors.

Thanks for your reply Mike but I should have mentioned that the same thing
happens when trying to boot into safe mode. The machine reboots at the same
spot everytime.... just after the w2k banner comes on screen.

And did "Last Known Good Configuration" fail too?

If so, you might try doing a Repair installation (from CD) over the top of
the existing Windows.
