RAS Dial up speed

I have a new server with a 56K modem. When people RAS into
it, they get 28.8K. What are the possible issues? Can this
be sped up?
Thanks

It's highly possible that physical line conditions might be to blame for
that. The modem on the other side and it's line

But you are already pretty close to the maximum. A normal analog
modem-to-modem connection has a MAX speed of 33.6k . You only get 56k
download speed when you connect to a digital interface (such as an ISP).

Why is it when you dial up using AOL, MSN, NetZero etc.,
you alway see fantastic connection speeds like 40K to 50K?
I have always heard that the maximum was around 30K but
how can those other companies say they connect at the
numbers listed above. Is there some inflation of the
numbers going on?
Thanks

As I said, they use digital interfaces. You would need to read the modem
specs to see why this works. But basically analog modem to modem is limited
to 33.6 . Digital interfaces will give you download speeds approaching 56K .

Sorry, yes just like you said. I get it this time.
What can you tell me about this digital interface?
