random beeps

i just added xp. i have 2000 partitioned. when i am on xp
i get random beeping. it is driving me nuts. can anyone
help? thanks

Are your speakers & sounds working? If XP doesn't see speakers or a sound
card then all program alerts will sound like a loud beep from your computer.
 
Under which OS are you running your email? I am having a
problem with my Outlook Express (in XP) in that when I
change mail boxes OE recedes to the background and will
not open again until I reboot. I can't even find it under
processes. During the time it is hiding, I hear random
beeps as though mail were coming in. Does any of that
sound familiar? If so, if I can find the answer to my
problem, I'll pass it on.

no pattern. i unchecked the ggogle pop up sound box but t
his did not help.
