Just on the news no more Airfix model kits as the youngsters nowadays have other technology...

Don't know anyone who didn't build at least one of these model kits when they was a kid..

Seems these things take too long to make now...so have been destined to the great scrapheap in the sky.....RIP Airfix..

Get them and keep them - their value will sky rocket on Ebay! ;)

It is indeed a shame and part of British youth culture being left behind.... :(

Blimey, i was raised on Airfix kits, boats, planes, cars, stuff for me Triang/Hornby train set and most of all, them tiny soldiers that I spent hours and hours painting lottsa different colours.

In fact, I was still putting Airfix kits together when I got me first kiss.

After that, bye bye kits.....

Bit of a shame, but things change, Tops Of The Pops has gone, Airfix Kits no more, half the Beatles are dead as is Elvis.

It's the way of things.

Do they still make Matchbox toys?

And btw, if you visit your local model shop, there still be plenty of American import kits.

Hello All,
Airfix fixes your age. Did a ME 109, Lancaster and Graph Spee as far as I can remember. Loved the building - hated the painting, and the glue probably accounts for the state I'm in.
Cheers,

Do you know what Chris i was going to write that in my earlier post..

Was one of the only things that you could really get to grips with, with the help of your dad, that aspect of Airfix will be missed by many kids...But hey like Flopp's has said they'll be loads of imports anyway...

Whats the name of that other company... Revel wasnt it?

Airfix, however, were the best of the best. Something England could be proud of.

I used to have 40 odd airfix models hanging on my ceiling - whenever Dad & I finished one, it would go on my ceiling.
