QuickTime Installation Problem

This is a problem that has been reported in the past, but I still havent
found a solution. And no, this is not a Quictime issue, but rather a MSFT
issue.

When I attempt to open Quicktime player I get error no. 46: unable to find
or load Quicktime Active X control. However, the Active X control
(QTplugin.ocx) is present in the Quicktime directory. When I attempt to
uninstall the Quicktime player, I get a host of dll files that won't
unregister, and during the subsequent reinstallation of the Quicktime player
I again get the same error message even though, I assume, the ActiveX
control is present in the installation setup. Can anyone help?

I would uninstall QuickTime in Add/Remove Programs and then enter regedit in
the start => run box and search the Registry for references to QT and remove
them.

As a precaution, create a System Restore restore point in case things go
pear shaped.

Then download the latest version of QT and install it.

Also check if there is a quicktime folder left in program files on
uninstallation, delete it if it's there. Remember to reboot after.

You might want to contact Apple for help with their product.

I am having the same problem with QuickTime, but it is only a problem in my
proflie. QuickTime runs fine in my son's profile. We are both set up as
administrators. Also I can not run Macromedia's flash player files in my
profile but they run fine in my son's profile. I would love to know if you
find a solution. This is making me nuts...
