Quicktime Active X control

I am attempting to open Quicktime on my computer and am about to throw the
whole bloody computer in the rubbish bin. Is there some kind and helpful
individual out there who can tell me where I get this active x control plus
what the hell is it? I have been to the Apple web site for Quicktime several
times and loaded Quicktime 7.1 (the free one) several times to no avail!!
Should this control be loaded with the program or is it something that should
be loaded down from Microsoft. When the does the enjoyment of owning these
bloody computers begin?
