Quicken & QuickBooks

I installed Defender Wednesday, and manual downloads from Quicken and
QuickBooks immediately stopped working. Quicken also alows for auto download
of bank data, and that continued to work.
I uninstalled Defender, and voila, manual bank downloads worked.
Interesting that the program pooches "Money's" competition...

Thanks for the report.

I'm quite sure this is unintentional. Windows Defender is not a firewall
and shouldn't just intefere without alerts with communication functions.
Are you running a 2-way firewall of any sort?

I don't use Quicken and Quickbooks, although I know lots of folks who
do--what's the process to do a manual download? What version's of the
programs did you see this issue with?

I'll just describe the QuickBooks process. I use 2006 Pro.
You log on to the bank site, log into the account, and click "download."
A little window opens, showing a progress bar.
Then a final window opens saying the download is complete.
When defender was on my computer, the first l;ittle window would blink, then
nothing. As soon as I uninstalled defender, the download worked.
I'd made no other changes to my system.

Thanks--this does sound like an application compatibility issue--so you've
posted in the right place to bring it to Microsoft's attention.
