Quicken 2006

I resently install Windows Vista Beta 2. When I tried to update my bank
acount through Quicken, I could not obtain an internet connection.

A message appeared suggesting I re-install Quicken. Which I did.

When I indicate that I am a current Quicken user, it then asks if I want to
open exinsting data. However, I soon get an error message that Quicken has
encountered a problem and needs to close. There is an error code 7189.

The other option for an existing user is to restore data. That option
returns a message "Disk is not ready"

I called Quicken Support only to be told that Quicken 2006 does not run on
Windows Vista.

Has anyone resolved a similar problem with Quicken?

To resolve your problem, run Quicken on a supported operating system.

I am surprised that you would attempt to update your bank account from a
Beta operating system.

Quicken works fine for me on Vista/Beta2, so perhaps your problem is related
to something else like security or firewall settings. I don't download
banking information from my bank, but do go online to update securities,
connect with Quicken, etc. I've had no problems. I'm sure Quicken must say
they don't support Vista at this time, since it's a beta product, but they
should be working to insure they are compatible once the OS becomes public.
Do other applications work with the internet? Good luck.

I installed Quicken 2004 Deluxe on Vista Beta 2 and have been using it to
do online banking (transaction download, bill paying). It has worked well,
so far. The only problem I ran into was downloading from American Express.
The download did not complete successfully and Quicken wants to keep
retrying it. I think I know how that can be corrected. If it works I'll
post an update.

Of course Intuit is going to tell you Quicken is not supported on a Vista
Beta release. All that means is that they will not provide any support if
you have problems as you already found out.

I also have Quicken 2006. It is Quicken Basic. I also cannot connect online
to check for updates with it using Vista.

So, to be safe I just use my Quicken in XP. I guess one of the other posters
must just be lucky. I am sure in due time Quicken will come around and get
all working again for Vista.
