Quicken 2006 Premier & Vista

I just installed Quicken to try it on Vista (I have it on a WinXP machine,
too). When I try to run it for the first time, I get the Welcome to Quicken
screen where I say that I'm already a user. At "Select a Data File", I
choose "Open a file located on this computer" and press the Next button.
Quicken then always fails. A window appears that indicates an expected error
occured with an error code of 7219.

I've seen that others have gotten Quicken to work. Any idea what I might be
doing wrong?

I've tried running the application in WinXP SP2 compatibility mode already.

I was working with Quicken 2004. When I installed it in Vista and just
worked through to the point where I would normally start the
"individualization" process and then I clicked on File on the main menu and
selected "Restore back-up" and pointed it to my quicken backup from my XP
installation. It proceeded to restore the back-up and I ended up with an
exact duplicate of my XP installation on Vista. HOWEVER!, I don't know how
this happened but when I went back the next to open my XP version, it
appeared like the Vista version before doing the Restore. I again did the
restore on the XP version and now have both copies identical. I have not
yet attempted to synchronize this program so that any change in one is
duplicated in the other. Actually, I am pretty sure this can be done but
have not pursued how to do it.

Just point to the same file from XP and Vista. Choose which system you want
to have your master file on and point both installations to it.

I haven't had any problems with Quicken 2006 Premier on Vista x64. My data
files are on a separate data drive. When I installed it I had UAC turned
off. With UAC turned on you have to open the data drive as an administrator
and give Vista full privileges. If you install Quicken with UAC turned on,
you have to install it as an administrator.

Same thing happened to me. Select the new user option, cancel out of file
setup at whatever point you want to, and then use File/Open and browse to
your existing data file location. Once you've accessed the file, the
Quicken 2006 installation will remember the file location and will access
the file on program start.
